The Osceola County School District is planning ahead for the upcoming spring by allowing students in all grade levels to have a full day of school on the Wednesdays when testing will be administered. As such, parents should be advised that there will be no early release of students on the following Wednesdays: March 1, April 12, April 19, April 26, and May 3, 2017.

Students going into ninth grade next year, along with their parents, are invited to attend to meet their new principals; to get an idea of what classes will be offered; to make their way around the campuses; to learn about curriculum, clubs, and extracurricular sports offerings; and more. These Orientation Nights will be a great opportunity for parents to get involved in the next step of their child’s education.

KMS Vision

Principal's message

Principal Weeden

Welcome the 2016-2017 school year at KMS! I truly believe that Kissimmee Middle School is home to the best students, teachers, and staff in the entire State of Florida, and I am very proud to be your principal. There are many exciting initiatives and events planned for our Jaguars this year, and our commitment at KMS is to ensure that each student will be safe, learn at high levels, and develop his/her character so that he/she is prepared for rigorous course work in high school and beyond.

At KMS, you can expect a high quality education which is based on standards, staff who are highly trained in their profession, technology which is state of the art and integrated into the curriculum, and most of all, high expectations for ALL students.

Additionally, KMS offers the following to our students: Project Lead the Way STEM program, seven different high school credit courses, an award winning Digital Photography program, a successful athletic program, an after school Drama program, a thriving music program featuring Band and Chorus, and this year, we are proud to be introducing a Dual Language curriculum in 6th grade to serve those students who were part of a Dual Language program in elementary school. There truly is something for every student at KMS, and I encourage all of our Jaguars to get involved.

Parents, we also want your involvement. We have a goal to become a 5 Star School which recognizes schools with high levels of parent volunteers. Keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities. One way to get involved is by becoming part of SAC. SAC (School Advisory Council) gives input on important decisions made by the school including our School Improvement Plan. SAC meets the 1st Monday of each month in the Media Center and is open to anyone who is interested in helping KMS improve. The research is clear that schools with increased parent involvement have higher levels of student achievement. Making KMS a school of excellence is a team effort between teachers, students, administrators AND parents.

A couple of notes for this year: The school day will be 9:00 am-3:55 pm which is 10 minutes later than last year. Campus will open at 7:30 am each day for Jaguar Jumpstart which will provide homework help and extra access to school computers and our online resources. Our school office hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 pm. Please sign up for the Parent Portal on this website and you can stop by school anytime if you need assistance accessing this excellent resource.

Here’s to a great year, Jaguars
